What is a BID?

A Business Improvement District (BID) is a business-led initiative, usually in a town or business park. The Royston First BID has been running since 2009 and covers both the town centre and the industrial estate. There are nearly 300 BIDs across the UK and 1500 worldwide.

Businesses that want to be involved, within the BID area, form a steering group and meet to make decisions on how to improve the trading environment around them. A range of projects are agreed and voted upon by all the eligible businesses in the steering group.
