Terms and Conditions

At Royston First BID, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. By submitting a nomination or using our services, you consent to the practices described in this statement.

Terms and Conditions

1. Eligibility

The “Nominate Your ‘Local Hero'” campaign (hereinafter referred to as the “Campaign”) is open to all residents of Royston and the surrounding areas, aged 16 years and over, except employees and directors of Royston First Business Improvement District (BID), and their immediate family members.

2. Campaign Period

The Campaign will commence on October 10, 2023, and nominations will be accepted until November 6, 2023. The winner will be selected by the board of Royston First BID Directors and announced on November 10, 2023.

3. How to Participate

To nominate a local hero, participants must visit the official Campaign website at Roystonfirst.com/localhero and complete the nomination form as provided. All nominations must be received by the specified deadline to be considered.

4. Nomination Guidelines

Nominations must be for individuals or a team, residing in Royston and its surrounding areas.

Nominees must have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the local community.

Multiple nominations for the same individual will be accepted.

Nominations must be submitted with accurate and complete information.

5. Winner Selection

The winner of the Campaign will be chosen by the board of Royston First BID Directors based on the merits of the nominations received. The decision of the board is final and binding. The winning nominee must be available to take part in the Christmas Lights Switch On event, on Friday 24th November 2023. 

6. Prize

The selected “Local Hero” will have the honour of illuminating Royston’s Christmas lights at the Royston Christmas Lights Switch On event, scheduled for 24th November 2023. 

7. Publicity and Release

By participating in the Campaign, nominees and nominators agree to allow Royston First BID to use their names, photographs, and submitted content for promotional purposes related to the Campaign, without additional compensation or notice, unless prohibited by law.

8. Privacy

Royston First BID will collect and use personal information provided during the nomination process for the purpose of administering the Campaign. By participating, you consent to the collection, use, and storage of your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Statement, below.

9. General Conditions

Royston First BID reserves the right to cancel, terminate, or modify the Campaign if it cannot be conducted as planned due to any technical or other malfunctions.

Royston First BID reserves the right to disqualify any participant who violates these Terms and Conditions.

Participation in the Campaign constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

11. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom, and any disputes arising from or related to the Campaign shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in the United Kingdom.
